Yesterday I hosted a training on how to write email copy like I do (AKA Justin style emails), so I want to give you a little peek inside how the launch for that promo went.
Here’s the deets…
Overall the training sold REALLY well.
And sales were much higher than I expected.
I promoted the training to my list for 8 days…
And during those 8 days I had…
278 people sign up (@ $197 each)…
Which resulted in $54,569 in total revenue.
Which is far more than I expected.
I was thinking it would do $20k or $30k max.
But it pretty much doubled that.
So it obviously connected with my list…
Which is why I’m gonna share a few lessons that stood out to me about this launch…
1. When you actually listen to your readers, you’ll know what they want to buy
If you looked at my inbox, there’s one topic that people ask me about more than any other…
And that’s email copy.
Everyday I get questions like…
“When are you going to do an email mentorship?”
“Can you teach how you write your emails?”
I constantly get these emails.
So what did I do?
I simply paid attention.
And I created a training based on something that I noticed people were asking me about.
This isn’t rocket science.
But it does require you to listen.
Listen to what people are asking for, and it’ll be a lot easier to come up with your offers.
Let’s look at the second big lesson…
2. The relationship you have with your list is EVERYTHING
For the email training I just did, I didn’t even have a sales page.
I just setup a checkout page…
And 278 people bought.
So this thing didn’t sell because of brilliant copy or anything like that.
It sold because a good chunk of people on my list like me and trust me (and because I created an offer they were interested in).
If you’re playing the “long game”, the relationship you have with your list is the most important thing.
So make it a priority.
Alright let’s do one more of these…
3. Human beings will always wait until the last minute, which is why deadlines and emailing multiple times on the last day of a launch work so well
Here’s a breakdown of the sales numbers on each day of my launch…
Day 1 – $9062
Day 2 – $3940
Day 3 – $3152
Day 4 – $3473
Day 5 – $3940
Day 6 – $3152
Day 7 – $4952
Day 8 – $22,852
So one big thing that stands out here is that day 8 crushed in terms of sales.
Why?
Because of the deadline.
It was the last day to join the training.
So there was real urgency to sign-up.
And on top of that…
I also sent 4 emails that day reminding you that this was the last day to sign-up.
So the combination of the deadline PLUS the multiple emails led to a huge day in sales (35% of the sales came in on this day)
So to sum it up…
My big takeaways were…
1. Listen to your list
2. Prioritize the relationship you have with your list
3. Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines
Hope you got a nugget or two from this.
Enjoy your Thursday,
– Justin
