Every Sunday morning I like to write about 3 random things that are on my mind.
Sometimes these things are about business…
Sometimes they’re about life…
And other times they’re just truly random.
So with that said…
Let’s hop into the first thing on my mind this morning…
1. Your business will not fall apart without you
I just got back from spending a week in Mexico for vacation, and much to my delight, my business ran perfectly fine without me.
During my week away I wasn’t on Slack…
I didn’t answer any emails…
And guess what?
There were no fires for me to put out…
No emergency issues that came up.
I can tell ya from experience that this is why most entrepreneurs never take vacations.
They think the business will fall apart without them.
So they just work and work and work…
And never take time off (and eventually burn out because of it).
So let this be a little eye-opener for you…
As much as you believe it, your business will not come crashing down if you take time off.
So make sure you’re taking some time off throughout the year.
Alright let’s hop to the second thing on my mind this morning…
2. Understanding what YOU want (and not what others want for you) is one of the biggest needle movers in life
One of the changes I’ve made in my 30’s compared to my 20’s is having a better idea of what I want in life…
I’ll give you a very obvious example…
When I was in my 20’s nearly every woman I dated was your standard white girl with blonde hair.
It was the “high school cheerleader” look.
And that’s what I went for.
Why?
Well I obviously had some kind of attraction to that type of woman back then…
But more than anything, it was societal conditioning that drove me to date these women.
Subconciously, I probably thought it would make me look cool…
And I was raised to believe this is the type of woman you’re supposed to be into.
So in my 20’s, I was dating women more for what other people wanted, than I was for what I actually wanted.
Now, if you fast forward to today…
The women I date in my 30’s look very different from the women I dated in my 20’s.
I’d say out of all the women I’ve dated in the last two years, 90% of them have been Mexican or Indian.
So they all have dark hair…
Dark skin…
Which is a total 180 from what I used to be attracted to.
But that’s what I actually like.
Point being…
Getting clear on “what YOU want” with everything in your life is critical.
Cause most of the choices we make are usually based on what we’ve been conditioned to want (and not what we actually want).
Make sense?
Alright, I’m gonna do one more of these…
3. With the way things are going in the U.S., I’ve been thinking about getting a second citizenship incase shit hits the fan
Over the last year or two, I’ve come to the conclusion that our government is run by a bunch of power-hungry deviants (on both sides) that don’t actually have any principles.
They don’t believe in freedom…
They don’t care about helping the citizens…
All they really care about is “dunking” on the other side, and saying whatever they need to say to get re-elected.
I know this has always been a part of politics…
But it feels like it’s really accelerated in the last 5-7 years.
Now it’s at the point that people don’t even care what the person they elect stands for…
Or if they’re a complete scumbag…
As long as “their side” wins, they’re ok with it.
Which is scary.
I mean people are completely ok with the government stomping all over our rights as long as it’s “their side” that does it.
So with all this going on, it’s prompted me to think about getting a second citizenship incase shit really does hit the fan at some point.
I hope I will never need it…
And I hope I never have to leave the US…
But it’s something that’s been on my mind.
And the more corrupt things get, the more I’m considering it.
Anyways…
If you’ve done the second citizenship thing, would love to hear some thoughts from you on what worked for you.
I have not done much research on this yet…
So any insights and resources would be awesome.
