Every Sunday morning I like to write about 3 random things that are on my mind.
Sometimes these things are about business…
Sometimes they’re about life…
And other times they’re just truly random.
So with that said…
Let’s dig into the first thing on my mind this Sunday morning…
1. Understand the things that you want money to do for you
One thing I love to do with money is spend it on awesome experiences for me and my friends.
So for example, in a few weeks I’m flying back to Columbus to go to the Ohio State/Notre Dame football game with a few of my buddies.
This is exciting for me for multiple reasons…
For one, I love college football. And this is a really big game to kick off the season…
Also, I only get to see these friends about once a year, so I’m looking forward to catching up with them.
So for me, dropping $1600 on tickets for me and my buddies to go to the game is well worth it.
I’ll have a ton of fun…
And it’s an experience I’ll remember forever…
This is part of what motivates me with money.
…being able to pay for my friends and I to have awesome experiences.
Now, some of your drivers with money might be similar…
Or they could be entirely different…
But it’s good to know what the big motivators are for you when it comes to money.
Alright let’s hop to the 2nd thought on my mind this morning…
2. At a certain age, I just stopped searching out new music (and I’m wondering if this is common)
Over the last 5+ years, I’ve probably only discovered 3 new bands that I like…
One was The Head and the Heart…
Another was Caamp…
And the last one was Holly Humberstone…
These tend to be on repeat on my Spotify playlist.
And these days, I just find myself listening to the same music over and over.
Which is wildly different from how I was in my 20’s.
Back in my 20’s I was a music nut.
I was always reading blogs and scanning message boards for new bands.
I lived and breathed music.
But at some point that went away.
I’m assuming most people get like this as they get older.
You get more content…
And you like the music you like, so you just keep listening to it.
I don’t really have a big point with this thought…
But it’s an interesting observation.
Alright let’s do one more of these…
This last one is a bit of a business update.
3. I re-branded the Justin & Stefan Talk Copy group to The Copy Campus (and also brought on some A-list copywriters to beef it up)
Over the last year the free Facebook group I run declined into a newbie infested wasteland.
The quality of the posts spiraled…
And the quality of the people sharing ideas in the group dipped as well.
Most of this was due to Stefan and I simply not paying any attention to the group.
It just wasn’t a priority…
So the quality went downhill.
But now I’m planning to revive the group…
I wanna make it the go-to spot to talk about copy, being a copywriter etc…
So I did a full rebrand of the group.
The new name is “The Copy Campus”.
And I brought on some A-list copywriters who are going to help me share some high-level copy insights each week in the group.
These copywriters include…
Ning Li – wrote 7 or 8 winning offers in the health space for Paleohacks over the last few years
Pauline Longdon – a true A-lister who is not only a great copywriter, but also a great copy coach (rare)
Tanner Henkel – my first protege and one of the best email copywriters in the game today
Kim Krause Schwalm – a long time A-lister who was in the trenches with direct mail, and is now teaching a new crop of copywriters her proven copy secrets
I will be adding more contributors as time goes on…
But I think this is a great start.
And I got some big things planned for the group to make it the best copy group on Facebook.
So if you’re not a part of the group yet.
Head on over and join the group here.
I’d love to have ya…
Alright, I need to wrap this up…
Hope you got a nugget or two from this…
Enjoy your Sunday
– Justin
