Every Sunday morning I like to share 3 random things that are on my mind…

Sometimes these things are about business…

Sometimes they’re about life…

And other times they’re completely random.

With that said, let’s dig into the first thing on my mind this morning…

1.  Your business doesn’t have to be your #1 priority

Every year when I write out my goals, the top ones are almost always about business.

However this year was different.

Cause my top goals are all about relationships.

Specifically being more social…

Dating more…

And meeting a long term partner at some point.

What’s funny is that this was VERY hard for me to prioritize.

On some level it almost feels “wrong” to me.

Like I’m ignoring my business…

But given where I’m at in my life…

And what I want over the next 10-20 years…

The relationship stuff is what matters to me now.

Making an extra $200k isn’t going to change my life in any significant way.

But dating someone who I’m truly into, and that I love spending time with will change my life.

But that all comes back to focus…

And allowing myself to focus on something other than my business (which is not easy to do).

So big takeaway here is that your focus should be what matters to YOU.

Not what matters to others…

Let’s jump to the second thought on my mind…

2.  Revenue doesn’t mean shit, it’s about what you take home

I was watching a video from Sam Ovens this weekend where he mentioned that he scaled his company back from $30 mil a year to about $12 mil a year.

Why?

Because the company is more profitable at $12 million.

So even though his revenue is much lower…

He’s taking home more money.

PLUS, he also mentioned that the company is a lot easier, and more fun to run at $12 million.

I have to give Sam credit…

And applaud this…

Cause in our world, so many people only focus on revenue growth.

But revenue doesn’t mean shit…

It’s just a number to impress people.

What really matters is what you take home…

And Sam figured out that he took more money home (and enjoyed his life more) at a lower revenue number.

Kudos to him for having the awareness to make that change…

Alright, lets do one more this morning…

3.  People will constantly try to pull you in a million different directions – stay on your course

Back when Clubhouse took off in late December, I noticed a lot of marketers spending 2-3 hours a day on there.

Some were using it to make money…

Or to build up a following…

But what was most interesting to me was that these people didn’t have other things to do.

The thought that kept popping in my mind was…

What were they originally planning on doing before Clubhouse came out?

That was my question.

Did they come into the year with a plan for how to grow their biz, and then just completely abandon it for Clubhouse?

Like they sat down in October and planned out how they were going to run Facebook ads to grow their business…

And then as soon as Clubhouse came out, they abandoned that plan?

I don’t know the answer.

But it struck me as very strange that people all of a sudden had 2-3 hours to spend on Clubhouse each day.

Either they had no plan for the year…

Or something else was getting ignored and replaced by Clubhouse.

And that’s worth thinking about.

Cause everyday there’s a new app you can be on…

Or a shiny new thing that is trying to pull you away from what you need to focus on.

And if you’re not strong…

And if you allow yourself to get pulled in every direction…

You’ll ultimately give in to this.

You’ll be at the whim of everything around you.

And that’s not a good spot to be in.

You should have a clear idea of where your time should be spent.

And stick with it.

Jumping from one new thing to the next is a recipe for disaster.

Make sense?

I hope so.

Cause that’s all I got for today.

Enjoy your Sunday.
