Every Sunday morning I like to write about 3 random things that are on my mind.

Sometimes these things are about business…

Sometimes they’re about life…

And other times they’re just truly random.

So with that said…

Let’s hop into the first thing on my mind this Sunday morning.

1.  If you’re an ambitious “Type A” person, you’re not gonna be able to simply turn that off in retirement

When most people dream of retirement, they think about sleeping-in til 9 and playing golf all day.

Which sounds nice…

And that can be a typical retirement for a lot of people.

However…

If you’re the kind of person that’s ambitious, and a high achiever, I don’t really think this is possible.

Why?

Cause it’s not realistic to think you can just turn off your “Type A-ness” and be content with doing nothing.

You can’t be all about getting shit done for years and years, then simply flip that off.

This is why my plan for the next few years is to basically scale back my work stuff to 20-30% of what it is now.

That way I’ll be able to work on projects I really want to do…

And I’ll have a bunch of free time to do more dog rescue work.

That feels like a more realistic transition for someone like me.

Point being…

If you’re a go-getter, this is something to think about if your retirement looming.

Alright let’s hop to the second thing on my mind this morning…

2.  The comment I made last week about “how much money is enough?” struck a chord with a lot of really successful marketers

Last week when I announced that I sold my stake in Copy Accelerator, a few big name marketers reached out to me and thanked me for sharing my thoughts on “how much money is enough?”

Basically all three of them mentioned that “how much is enough” had been on their mind for a while.

And even though they were already successful…

They still felt the need to work harder, put in more hours and make more money.

However…

None of them really needed to make more money.

They had more than enough to live on.

I can tell ya from my experience, this “more, more, more” way of thinking is pretty rampant in our little slice of the marketing world.

We wind up sacrificing time with our family…

We sacrifice our sanity (and stress levels).

And we just keep chasing growth at all costs.

You can get away with that shit in your 20’s…

But as you get older it’ll wear on you.

And you’ll start to wonder if all this money is worth it.

For me personally, making $5 million a year isn’t appealing if I have to work 80 hours a week to do it.

I’d rather make $500k, and have more balance in my life.

That might differ for you…

But it’s something I believe you should give some thought to.

Alright, let’s hop to the 3rd thought on my mind this morning.

3.  People can feel it when you truly love what you do

On Friday I took a suit of mine to a new tailor.

His name was Gus…

And he’s gotta be close to 85 years old.

But what stood out to me most about Gus was just how enthusiastic he was about making sure my suit fit perfectly.

He wasn’t just going through the motions…

Or rushing me through so he could get to the next customer.

The guy truly enjoyed every aspect of being a tailor.

Whether it was pinning the needles on my pants…

Or measuring my arm length…

It was obvious to me that he truly loved being a tailor.

And that made a huge difference in my experience.

I could feel how much he cared…

And I left his shop HAPPY that I gave him my business.

And I think there’s a lot you can learn from this.

Nobody wants to do business with someone that’s just going through the motions.

When you truly love what you do…

And you care about the person you’re helping…

People feel it.

It’s obvious.

And it sets you apart from everyone else that’s just going through the motions.

Point being…

If you can do something you truly love…

You’ll go a lot further.

Cause that’s not something you can fake.

Make sense?

I hope so.

Cause that’s all I got for ya today.

Hope you got a nugget or two from this.

Enjoy your Sunday.
