Last night it dawned on me that I’ve been able to do some pretty cool things because of the money I make with my business…
For example…
– Last October I took 5 of my friends to the Ohio State/Penn State football game. We were about 10 rows from the field. It was one of the most fun days I had all year. We were up at 7 AM, tailgating, hanging on campus, and then partying after the game. I think I paid close to $5,000 for all of our tickets. It was worth every penny.
– In April of 2018, I surprised my dad and took him to see Bruce Springsteen on Broadway. My dad is a huge Bruce fan, so this was a big deal for him. I bought him a first-class ticket to fly from Ohio out to New York. And we spent two days together eating good food, and seeing “The Boss” in a small NY theater. He loved every minute of it. And it’s an experience he still talks about nearly two years later.
– Back in 2018 when my dog George needed cataract surgery, I was able to get him the surgery without worrying one bit about the cost. I think it was like $6000 in total. That surgery changed his life for the better. And made the last two years of his life much more enjoyable because he could actually see what was going on around him. If I didn’t have such a successful business, I probably wouldn’t have been able to get him that surgery.
– On that same note, when I moved from Columbus to Austin, I was able to fly private so that me and my dogs could all be together. No need to stick them in cages, or to drive for 3 days in a hot car. We just relaxed in our 7-seater plane and we were in Austin within 2 hours.
– When I bought my house in 2018, one of the first things I did was hire a contractor to put a pool in. That wound-up turning into a nightmare (I got scammed out of $82,000 by the contractor). It sucks to lose that much money, but truthfully it’s not gonna make a bit of difference in how I live my life. The pool is finally done now (with another contractor) and we’re finishing up all the landscaping, turf and decking around it. Honestly I don’t even know what the total cost is at this point, but it really doesn’t matter. All of this was possible because of my business.
– Last Christmas I decided to go to Cabo and take a week-long vacation to just relax (and get my mind off of work). Instead of nickel-and-diming the vacation, I was able to stay at a 5-star resort, where I had a personal butler who got me anything I wanted. I woke up every morning, walked on the beach, got a massage and laid in the sun for 7 days straight. It was magical. It was a far cry from the vacations I had growing up where we all piled in a van and drove for 3 days to Myrtle Beach.
– Since I love dogs so much, I donate a bunch of money to dog rescues around the country. In 2018 and 2019 I think I donated around $25,000 each year. This year, I’ve been helping families (with dogs) who after the pandemic hit, haven’t been able to afford to feed their dogs. I think I’ve given about $5,000 total to over 80 different families so they could feed their dogs. That’s a small price for me to help, but one that is life-changing for them and their dogs. So I’m happy to do it.
I could probably list a lot more of these…
But you get the gist.
For me money not only improves my life (and the life of others around me), but it also gives me freedom.
The freedom to buy what I want…
To help who I want…
And to do what I want.
That last one is probably the most important one.
Cause I’m a big believer in living life on your own terms.
You have to figure out what it is that YOU want.
How you want your life to look…
And then use your business to get that.
As you saw with my spending…
I use my money to buy nice experiences…
To make my life easier…
And to help dogs…
Your reasons might be totally different.
Maybe you want to put your kids in better schools…
Or you want your wife to not have to work…
Whatever it is…
The opportunity is there.
And it all comes back to how you grow your business.
Cause that’s what brings you the money.
And the money brings you the freedom.
That’s all I got for ya today.
Enjoy your Thursday.
