One of the things that I always preach is that your big goal at the end of the day should be to have the kind of life that YOU want…
For example…
A few weeks ago after I decided to step back from the copywriting world…
A friend of mine called me and couldn’t believe I was “retiring”.
The whole thing just didn’t make sense to him.
“You’re too good at this” he said…
“You could easily build another company that’s doing 20 or 30 million a year”.
He went on and told me that I was still really young…
And that I was leaving a bunch of money on the table.
Everything he said was accurate…
And it all made logical sense…
But here’s the thing…
None of it swayed me.
Why?
Cause what he wants for me isn’t the life I want for myself.
Right now, I’m not interested in having a $20 million dollar company.
I’m not interested in working 8-10 hours a day.
I’ve already done all that.
What I want now is less stress…
More fulfillment…
And to only focus on things I really want to do.
Things like…
– the mentoring program that I mentioned a few weeks back…
– cooking for myself more often
– going to the gym 4 days a week
– playing pickleball with friends
– getting outside in nature
That’s what interests me now.
So that’s the kind of life I’m pursuing.
And that should always be the end goal…
Getting the kind of life that YOU want.
So if you’ve never thought about it…
I’d highly suggest giving some thought to what kind of life you want…
Do you want your life to fulfill you and have a lot of impact?
Do you want flexible hours so you can spend more time with your kids?
Do you want to live by the beach and surf every morning?
Do you want to make a shitload of money so you don’t have to listen to anyone?
There’s no wrong answers here.
And you may have completely different things that you want in your life than I want in mine.
But in the end, the goal is still to have the kind of life that YOU want.
That means a life that you enjoy…
That you look forward to each day…
And that’s meaningful to you.
Cause if you have that…
You won the game.
