When I was 22 and graduating college, I had a big decision to make…
Get a “real job” and make my parents happy…
Or…
Bet on myself, and see if I could cut it as an entrepreneur.
It was a big decision.
And one I struggled with…
On one hand I had a $65k job offer to work at Rivals.com in Nashville (a college football website that I had interned for).
That was a good job.
It paid well…
And if I took that job, I knew my parents would be pleased.
But on the otherhand…
I knew I wasn’t cut out to be an employee.
Why?
Cause I hated jobs where I just punched the clock and got paid by the hour…
That was true when I was a line cook at Perkins…
It was true when I picked up range balls at a golf course…
And it was true when I interned at Rivals…
I had no motivation in those jobs.
So I just did the bare minimum.
However…
I noticed when I started making affiliate websites that I felt pretty motivated.
Why?
Cause I only got paid when I made a sale.
So if I just did the bare minimum…
I wouldn’t make any money.
But if I was ambitious…
And I got good at SEO…
And I learned about conversions…
Then I’d start making more moolah.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Cause I went from scraping by on $500 a month…
To making $2,000 a month…
And eventually working that up to $11,000 a month…
Which was crazy.
That was life changing money for me at the time.
I never dreamed I’d be the kind of guy who could make $11k a month.
But it happened.
And the reason that happened is because I stopped relying on others…
And I bet on myself.
I put the responsibility on my shoulders…
I took all the risk…
I beared the brunt of everyone making fun of me when I was broke…
And because I was willing to do that…
When things eventually swung my way…
I was the one who reaped the rewards.
But that only happened cause I had the courage to bet on myself…
So if I could leave you one thing today…
It’s this…
Bet on yourself.
If you want the big rewards…
Like the money…
And the freedom…
You can’t just follow the typical path…
You gotta be willing to bet on yourself.
