You can have all the money-making skills in the world, but if you’re in the wrong “vehicle” to make money, you’ll always be broke.
Case in point…
Back in the early 2000’s, there was a middling pop-punk band called “As Tall As Lions” that was headlined by a guy named Dan Nigro.
This band toured for years and years…
They spent endless hours writing songs…
They put out multiple albums…
But despite all their hard work…
And all their dedication…
They never broke through.
They didn’t have the success of some of their peers like Blink 182 or Fall Out Boy…
So they struggled financially…
And because the band wasn’t making much money…
In 2010, the lead singer (Dan Nigro) decided to leave the band and be a song writer for other artists.
Dan knew he was a talented song writer…
And his thought was that if he could just take his songs and pair them up with a good artist, it would be fireworks.
So that’s exactly what he did.
Odds are you’ve probably never heard the name Dan Nigro before this email.
But if you listen to pop music…
Or you have kids who listen to it…
You’ve undoubtedly heard some of the songs Dan’s written.
Cause he’s the guy who wrote Olivia Rodrigo’s smash hit “Good 4 U”…
And then he followed that up by writing Chappell Roan’s blockbuster “Pink Pony Club”.
Both of these songs were massive hits.
And not only did they make the artists huge stars…
But they also made Dan very, very wealthy.
These days he’s not crashing on friend’s couches…
Or worrying about making his rent payment.
He’s a millionaire many times over…
And living a dream life in L.A.
But here’s the thing…
If Dan had stayed in his band…
He wouldn’t have the success he has today.
Why?
Cause even though he’s an incredibly talented song writer…
His band was simply the wrong “vehicle” to turn his skills into money.
That’s the truth.
Whether it’s cause they weren’t good enough…
Or they were in the wrong genre of music…
Whatever the reason, it was the wrong vehicle for Dan’s skills…
But luckily for Dan…
He was smart enough to see that.
So he simply took his incredible songwriting skills and applied them to a better “vehicle” (writing for pop stars)….
And that made him very, very wealthy.
Point being…
If you have the skills…
And you’re good at what you do…
You want to make sure you’re in the right “vehicle” that allows you to maximize your skills.
You don’t want to be in a “vehicle” that holds you back…
You want to be in a “vehicle” that amplifies your skills and lets you maximize what you get paid.
Keep that in mind…
And enjoy your Sunday…
