“If you want your offer to be a big seller, it can’t just appeal to the diehards”
This is a thought that went through my mind last night while I was watching the Super Bowl.
Why?
Cause nobody is better than the NFL at getting the non-diehards to watch.
Case in point…
Out of all the people I know who watched the Super Bowl last night, there were…
– Football fans
– Music fans (tuning in to see Usher at halftime)
– T Swift fans
– Advertising nerds who care about the commercials
– Gamblers who had money on the game
– Daily fantasy players who had a vested interest in the game
– International fans tuning in from Brazil, Germany and England
– Young kids who watched the Nickelodeon version of the Super Bowl
– People who are social, who simply wanted to go to a Super Bowl party
That’s a lot of people watching the game.
It wasn’t just diehard football fans.
If the game only appealed to the diehards…
They’d probably have 75% less viewers.
So they’re smart to make the game appeal to as many people as possible.
This is actually very similar to how I think when I sell a copywriting course to my list.
I don’t want the course to just appeal to the diehard copywriters who are making $20k a month…
I want it to appeal to…
– beginner copywriters
– people who are thinking about getting into copywriting
– marketing and conversion peeps who need to understand copy
– coaches and consultants who need more clients
– people who have their own offers
– brick and mortar businesses who need to make more sales
I want my offer to appeal to all those people.
Why?
Cause that’s a much bigger market than the “diehard copywriter” market.
If my stuff only appeals to the diehard copywriters, I might make 20 sales.
But if it appeals to all the people I just listed, I might make 200 sales.
And that’s what I want.
I want my stuff to appeal to as many people as possible.
And you can’t do that if you only appeal to the diehards.
That’s a million dollar lesson right there…
So keep that one in mind…
And enjoy your Monday,
– Justin
