Back in 2009 when I was learning how to write copy, I made a huge mistake that held me back from making real money as a copywriter.
Here’s what I mean by that…
Instead of learning copy from someone who was a successful copywriter…
I decided I was going to figure out this whole copywriting thing myself.
Why?
Well for one, I was stubborn.
I was a cocky, 25 year-old who thought he didn’t need anyone’s help.
I was always able to figure things out on my own…
And I figured I’d be able to do the same with copy.
So instead of learning from a writer that knew what they were doing, I simply studied all of the VSL’s and sales pages I could find.
So I broke down VSL’s that were working on Clickbank.
And I studied old sales pages from the greats like Gary Halbert and Dan Kennedy.
Truthfully this was better than doing nothing…
But when it came to me actually writing a sales page myself, I always struggled.
Why?
Because I had no system for writing copy…
I didn’t have a framework for WHAT to do…
I didn’t know how to do research…
Or how to come up with a unique hook…
Or even how to start writing a sales letter.
I didn’t have any of that.
And as a result, two things consistently happened…
1. It took me forever to write a sales page (my average turnaround time was 12 weeks, which is dreadfully slow)
2. I wrote a lot of copy that bombed (I had some winners, but I also had like 80% bombs)
This was pretty much how the first few years of my freelancing career went.
It was a lot of ups and downs…
One month I’d make $3,000…
And then I would struggle for the next two months to pay my bills.
I didn’t have a good foundation of HOW to write winning copy.
I was just kind of winging it.
But…
Knowing what I know now, I see how big of a mistake this was.
Had I actually been smart about this…
And learned from a GOOD copywriter from the start…
I would have had a much better understanding of how to write copy.
And instead of struggling…
And having up and down months…
I would have started having $5k and $10k months a lot sooner.
Point being…
Ttrying to learn it all on my own was a mistake.
And I don’t want you to make the same mistake.
Cause I’ve seen firsthand what can happen when you actually get help right from the start…
Tanner Henkel (who I told you about yesterday) had me helping him from day 1, and within 12 months he was on pace to make $100k…
Krista Edsall started working w/Stefan and I while she was a bartender, and within a year she landed a gig in the health space making $10k a month.

When does it start: The mentorship will start the week of January 10th. There are different call times so that we can accomodate people in all time zones (more info on the call times on the application page here)
How do I join?: This program is by application only. We are looking for hungry, dedicated people who will actually follow through and use the program (no flakes). We have a limited number of spots in the program due to the time required of the coaches to provide 1-on-1 feedback.
