Back in 2012 I randomly clicked on a Facebook ad and wound up opting into an email list for a guy named Ben Settle.
At the time, I didn’t know who Ben was.
I had never heard of him…
But as I read the emails he was sending me, I immediately liked his style.
Why?
Because his emails weren’t just generic sales pitches.
He talked like a real person would talk.
It felt like we were having a beer together in a dimly lit dive bar talking about copy, psychology and what makes people “tick”.
So I kept reading his emails…
And I learned a lot of valuable shit such as…
– how to use stories (both positive stories and nightmare stories) to keep people entertained while also selling stuff to them
– why you make a lot more money sending an email every day (I was mailing my fitness list 2-3x a week at the time, so seeing the power of mailing everyday was a big eye-opener for me)
– how to get people to open your emails simply because it’s you sending them (this all has to do with the bond you create with your list, and it’s something Ben is great at)
– erasing the belief I had that you can’t always sell stuff to your list (Ben sells stuff pretty much everyday, which at the time I didn’t think you could do)
– the power of sending a boatload of emails on the last day of a launch (this was a gamechanger for me when I started doing launches)
– getting clear on how you want to be perceived by your list (Ben positions himself like a wrestling “heel” (AKA a bad guy), which is very different from how I position myself – both ways work, but you need to be clear on how you want people to perceive you, and then make sure all your emails, products and videos reflect that)
I could go on and on with this…
But my point here is simple.
If you’re serious about email…
And you’re serious about building a cult-like following that will open every email you send…
Then you should be on Ben’s list.
I’ve read damn near every email he’s sent since 2012, which is saying something, cause I get close to 100 emails a day.
So if I’m making time to read it…
And to learn from him…
You probably should be as well.
So if that floats your boat…
I suggest hoppin on Ben’s list and snagging a free copy of his 17-page email marketing “cheat sheet” right here.
