Today we’re gonna look at another “money block” you might struggle with.
And that’s the feeling of “I don’t deserve it”.
This block is probably one of the most triggering of all.
Because it’s really about self worth.
So if you feel like you don’t deserve the money you’re making (or you don’t deserve to make more money) you basically feel “less than” when it comes to money.
You feel like you’re not worthy…
Or that you’re a piece of shit and don’t deserve it.
This money block can show up in a number of ways…
For example, if you’re familiar with James Altucher’s story, he’s made like $15 million dollars numerous times – and lost it all each time.
So he’ll sell a company, make a bunch of money, and then a year later he’ll barely have any of the money left.
If this happened to him once it could have been chalked up to money management…
However it’s happened to him multiple times.
So this is a money block issue.
And it probably stems from the “I don’t deserve this” thought.
So James gets a bunch of money…
And emotionally it makes him very uncomfortable to have that much money.
He feels like he doesn’t deserve it.
He feels uncomfortable with it.
So what does he do?
He spends it on stupid shit…
He gambles it on risky investments…
And within a year or so, that $15 million is now down to a number he’s more comfortable with.
To be clear this isn’t a spending issue…
It’s about him not feeling worthy of the money.
So unconciously he does everything in his power to get rid of the money.
And that’s why he repeats this cycle over and over.
Same thing can happen when you start making more money than you’re used to.
I remember when I was making around $200k a year, and then out of nowhere my income went up to like $700,000 the next year.
It was a big jump.
And it made me uncomfortable.
At $200k I was still in the “upper middle class” range of a lot of people I knew.
So I fit in with them.
But at $700,000, I was in a totally different ballpark.
$700,000 is rich.
That’s the top 1%.
And that was new for me.
Especially because I always saw myself as a “middle class” person.
I wasn’t sure if I deserved it.
Or if I had just gotten lucky.
I always had a sneaking suspicion that it wouldn’t last.
But here’s the thing…
It took me a while to realize, I am deserving of this.
Just like you are.
No one person is inherently more deserving of money than another person.
Doesn’t matter if you came from a poor family…
Or if you feel like an outsider…
You are just as deserving of living a rich life as the next person.
That’s the truth.
That took me a long time to fully grasp.
I’d suggest you embrace that idea.
No matter what happened in your past…
Or where you come from…
You are just as deserving of living a rich life as the next person.
Make sense?
Hope so.
Cause that’s all I got for ya today…
I’ll be back tomorrow with another money block, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
