We’re coming up on the end of 2022, so I’m gonna share with you some of the biggest insights I had this year.
I’ll start by saying that 2022 was a year of change for me.
It started with me having a change of heart in regards to what’s important to me (mostly along the lines of money not being as important anymore).
That eventually led to me selling my share of Copy Accelerator.
Which was a big deal.
Copy Accelerator had been my baby since 2019.
And in 3 short years, Stefan and I grew the program to 200+ members and we were getting pretty insane results for our members.
So walking away from that was unexpected.
But it was the right move for me.
Mostly because as I turned 38 this year, I felt my priorities start to shift.
I was getting close to my “enough is enough” number with money, so continuing to make a bunch of money wasn’t as much of a priority anymore.
I wanted to focus on other things…
One of those things was working with dog rescues.
I’ve helped numerous dog rescues over the last few years to raise money through direct mail and email campaigns.
So I wanted to do more of that (along with getting more involved in-person with taking care of the dogs at the shelter).
Another big priority for me was scaling back my workload so that I had the time (and mental space) to put towards dating.
Over the last 5-6 years, I was just doing the short term, casual dating thing…
And while it was nice, and I had a lot of fun…
I started to feel like I wanted something deeper with more meaning.
Which was an issue…
Cause when I was full fledge running my business, dating always took a backseat to whatever needed done in the business.
The business always came first…
And everything else was second fiddle.
So I knew if I kept going down this path, I’d just keep prioritizing money and growing the business and dating would be left to the wayside.
And that’s not what I wanted.
So I made some big changes…
And I can say based on the last six months, I made a great decision.
I’m still creating courses, and writing about copy and marketing (which I love to do).
I’m also working a lot less.
My average day is about an hour or two of work now-a-days.
I also took a bunch of my newfound free timeput a put it towards dating. And as a result, I’ve been seeing someone that I think there’s a lot of potential with…
So overall, life has been good.
It’s much more relaxed…
And I’m not as stressed.
And that’s really a testament to me being aware of how my priorities were changing.
The reality is your priorities will change as you get older…
And what mattered to you a few years ago, might not matter to you now.
I know this has happened to me multiple times.
Things like money, fulfillment, status, family and flexibility have all had varying degrees of importance to me over the years.
And what was really important to me at 33 isn’t as important to me at 38.
So my advice to you is to be tuned into this…
Know what your priorities are…
Know what matters to you…
And then be aware of when you feel them changing in importance.
My belief is that you’ll be happier in the long run if instead of fighting the change, you go with it and focus on your new priorities.
Anyways…
Hope this was helpful for you.
I’ll be back tomorrow with some more insights from 2022.
Enjoy your Monday,
– Justin
