Earlier this morning I was walking down the Vegas strip and decided to snap this picture…

That’s me in front of Circus Circus.

If you’re not familiar with Circus Circus, it’s basically the WalMart of hotels on the Vegas strip.

The place hasn’t been updated in 50 years…

All the rooms reek of smoke and mildew…

So it’s quite a dump.

However…

People still stay there.

Including me in 2006 (the first time I ever came to Vegas.)

At the time I had no other choice when it came to booking a hotel…

Cause I was dead broke.

I had just graduated college, and I was trying to get my affiliate business going.

So scraping together a few hundred dollars to go to a conference in Vegas was not easy.

But I made it happen.

And while most of the other guys at the event were staying at nice places like Caesar’s or the Bellagio…

I was slumming it at Circus Circus…

(I’m pretty sure I even went out and bought a loaf of bread and peanut butter and just ate that in my room the entire weekend instead of going out to dinner with the others)

That’s how broke I was.

Like I said this was nearly 16 years ago…

But when I walked by the hotel this morning, it made me think of just how much change I’ve been through over those years.

Back then I was all ego.

I thought I knew everything.

I hated the idea of asking for help…

Or showing weakness.

And when it came to my business, I was all short-term focused.

I just wanted to make a bunch of money.

I didn’t care how I did it…

Or how many hours I had to work to make it happen.

I just wanted my own thing.

But those early years were a struggle.

I almost quit multiple times and was considering getting a real job.

So it was not easy…

Which is why I wanted to share this story with you.

Cause the big thing I want you to take away from this is that everyone starts at the bottom.

And the bottom is where it’s the toughest.

It’s when you’re fighting just to pay your rent…

And trying to get ANYTHING going.

Which can be incredibly frustrating.

You constantly make mistakes…

And doubt yourself every day.

But that’s just part of the process.

And it’s why so many people give up early on.

Cause the beginning is the hardest.

It’s meant to weed people out.

And to only allow the people who are dedicated to make it.

Anyways…

Point being, I started at the bottom just like every other marketer I know.

So my advice to you is to embrace it.

And understand that the bottom is the toughest part.

One day you’ll look back on it and be thankful that you stuck through it.

Enjoy your Saturday,
