A question from a marketer named M.P. came in last night asking if there’s any downside to using a “pocket change” offer to build a list…

So what’s the catch with these pocket change offers?  If they’re so good, why isn’t everyone using them?  There’s gotta be a downside you’re not telling us about.

Valid question…

First I’ll say that while not everyone is using them, a bunch of people ARE using Pocket Change offers to build their email lists.  

Off the top of my head I’ve seen…

Paleohacks…

Roland Frasier…

Survival Life…

4Patriots…

Matt Artisan (dating guy)…

Perry Belcher…

Newsmax…

Healthy Back Institute…

They’re all using low-priced, pocket change offers to get buyers on their list.

So a lot of the “heavy hitters” in the game are already using them (which should tell you something).

Now in terms of the downsides of them…

There’s one main one that I want to be 100% upfront with you about.

And that’s the fact that the buyers you get from a “pocket change” offer are not going to be as good of a buyer on the backend as someone who comes onto your list from let’s say a $97 offer.

Many of the pocket change buyers will still buy high-ticket stuff from you…

And they’ll buy other offers you send them…

But in my experience they spend about 1/4 as much as the $97 buyer. 

So if you have the ability to create a $97 offer and get it to scale on cold traffic then you should absolutely do that.

But here’s the thing…

Getting a $97 offer (or even a $47 offer) to convert on cold traffic is damn near impossible for most people.

Cause you need elite, A-level copy to do it.

I’m talking about the kind of copy you see guys like Dan Ferrari, Stefan Georgi or Craig Clemens writing…

So you need to be an insanely good copywriter…

Or you need to have $35k-$50k to pay someone to write the copy for you. 

In my opinion, this is just not realistic for most people. 

This is why “pocket change” offers are such a breath of fresh air.

Cause with a low-priced, pocket change offer, you don’t need A-level copy to get them to convert…

You also don’t need a $10,000 VSL with Hollywood-level editing, transitions, and mood music… 

With a pocket change offer, you just need a simple sales page.

And an offer that people really want.

And if you have that, you can make a sale…

So in my opinion…

If you want to build a big email list full of buyers…

Using a low-priced, Pocket Change offer is probably the easiest way to do it.
