You ever have one of those days when you’re planning on being really productive, and then nothing goes as planned?
Well that happened to me today.
Last night I woke up around 3 AM, went to the bathroom, and then proceeded to lie in my bed tossing and turning until 6 AM.
I couldn’t sleep.
My head was pounding.
I even took a shower at 4 in the morning to see if that would help me fall asleep.
But nothing helped.
I’m not sure if it’s my allergies flaring up…
Or if I caught a bug on my flight back from San Diego…
Either way it threw off my whole day.
Cause I didn’t wake up til 9:30.
And even then, I was still tired.
And not in a great mood.
So all the plans I had of getting up at 7:30 and being super productive went out the window.
Which is not ideal.
If this had happened to me in my 20’s, I would have forced myself to be twice as productive to make up for my slow start to the day.
I would have put a ton of pressure on myself…
And worked myself to the bone…
All because I couldn’t let myself have an “off” day.
But now-a-days, I don’t think like that.
I’m more realistic about the situation.
I know that some days I simply don’t “have it”.
And on those days I don’t try to force it.
I just do the best that I can…
And I hopefully get a few things done.
Anyways…
The big lesson here is simple.
Contrary to what the hustle culture bros tell ya, you don’t have to be “on” every day.
You don’t have to be grinding 24/7.
You’re a human being and you’re gonna have “off” days.
So just embrace em.
And don’t beat yourself up too much when you have ’em.
Your sanity will thank you.
Enjoy your Friday,
