Last summer I experimented with getting up a LOT earlier to see how it affected my productivity.

So I got up around 6:30 AM for a few months.

And I actually enjoyed it.

The quiet moments in the morning were unlike any other part of the day.

No commotion in the house…

No Amazon driver ringing the doorbell…

It was just me and my laptop.

And I was able to get a bunch of work done.

I honestly thought I would keep this schedule up forever.

In bed by 9:15, and up by 6:30.

It was working well…

But eventually things changed.

And I started to notice a downside to getting up so early.

And for me that was the impact on my social life.

Unlike a lot of people on my list, I don’t have kids…

And I’m not married…

So I still like to go out on Friday and Saturday nights with friends.

And when I was getting up early, this became really tough to do.

Cause I was dead-tired before it was even time to go out.

It’d be 9:30 and I’d be so tired, I was wondering how the hell I’d make it until midnight.

So to fix this, I basically stopped going out for a while.

And just stayed in on the weekends.

This obviously did wonders for my sleep routine.

I was hitting 92’s on my Oura Ring every night.

But there was another side to it…

And that was the effect it had on my happiness.

I was just not as happy when I wasn’t going out with friends on Friday and Saturday nights.

I missed meeting new people…

I missed the energy…

I was so focused on getting up early that I was missing out on all the good times with my friends.

And the more I thought about this…

The more I realized how stupid it was.

Because I could do everything I was doing in my business, waking up at 8:30 AM.

It wouldn’t change a thing.

And if I got up a little later, I’d still be able to have a social life getting up at that time.

So that’s kind of where I’m at now.

It may change in the future.

But for what my goals are right now…

Getting up at 8:30 works perfectly fine.

Point being…

When it comes to what time you get up, you have to figure out what works for YOU.

And how that fits your priorities.

My priorities this year are to get out of my house and to be more social.

Yours might be to get a new project done, so getting up a few hours earlier helps that.

Either way…

The key is figuring out what works for you.

And not being afraid of changing that if your circumstances change.

It’s about what works best for YOU.

Keep that in mind.

And enjoy your Monday,
