If you struggle with perfectionism, you’ll probably relate to this…
I flew back to Austin late last night, and was planning to jump right into my work this morning.
But my body just wasn’t having it.
I was too exhausted.
Turns out spending 3 days staying up late, and getting up at 6 AM to tailgate for a football game takes a toll on you.
On Saturday, we literally were up at 6:30 AM and at a bar by 7:30 AM.
And that continued all day.
We went to the game at noon. And stood the entire game, screaming until our voices were shot.
It was cold. It was wet.
But we kept going…
After the game, it was more bars, more parties.
By about 9 PM that night, I finally ran out of gas.
15 hours of non-stop fun was all I could handle.
So I grabbed an Uber back to my Airbnb, and went to bed.
I didn’t sleep great.
But despite all of that, I was determined to jump right back into my routine this morning.
After all, it’s Monday.
That’s what I’m supposed to do.
But that didn’t happen.
I woke up about an hour later than I normally do.
I had no interest in writing this email.
I spent the first 30 minutes of the morning just kind of putzing around and trying to motivate myself.
What’s interesting is that I realized I was beating myself up for not being productive.
Just being very critical of myself.
But then I thought about it.
I just had a LONG weekend full of late nights, long days and a 6-hour flight.
I’m going to be a little off today.
And guess what?
That’s perfectly fine.
I don’t have to be “on” every single day.
That’s not realistic.
Some days will be better than others.
So today is gonna be a little more of a “slow day” for me.
A good way to ease back in to the week.
And get a few things done…
But I’m not in high achiever mode.
Maybe you can relate to this…
If yous truggle with being a work-a-holic or a perfectionist, you probably do.
Point being…
Allow yourself to have slow days.
Even “off days”.
You can’t throw a 100 MPH fastball everyday.
Keep that in mind…
